This past month I had the amazing opportunity to experience one of the city's coolest new hotels, The Moxy in Times Square. I had the pleasure of enjoying a little 'staycation' with my good friend Alyssa, of Gilted & Guilty, spending the weekend exploring the beautiful hotel on some of the coldest days we've seen in New York since my move from Los Angeles. I've always felt that a staycation in your hometown is a perfect indulgence, and a great way to experience your city from a new perspective!
The team at The Moxy could not have been better. On our arrival we were taken straight up to our room, which had a killer view of Times Square! I think this spot would make a perfect place for New Years Eve in New York - the best way to see all the action without the crazy crowds!
We started off by relaxing in the room, exploring the hotel, and having a few drinks at the lobby bar. The whole space is beautifully decorated - minimal with cool touches like vintage band posters, vinyl records and intriguing coffee table books, and art like the metal installation hanging above the main lobby floor. After having some delicious welcome cocktails at Bar Moxy, we walked around to explore the rest of the space. The weather was so cold we didn't want to step outside for a second, so we really made use of our time indoors!
We stumbled upon the rooftop bar Magic Hour, run by the incredible TAO Group, before it opened, and managed to sneak in a few pictures with no one there! I loved the marble floors, amazing midtown views, and orange decor that just so happened to match my new bomber jacket. I'll have to come back in warmer weather, because the bar has a full mini-golf course overlooking Manhattan!
One of the best parts of our stay was our Saturday night dinner at Legasea, the hotel's restaurant. Legasea is an amazing seafood brasserie that serves a mix of comfort foods and seafood staples. We really went all out, and treated ourselves to the most delicious lobster and crab dishes I've had in a while. If you're going to check it out, I highly recommend the spicy crab beignets!
I was sad to have to check out after our short stay, but alas, the real world awaited. Having this respite from the cold was the perfect start to the new year, and I anticipate taking many more staycations in the city.
I want to give a big shoutout to the amazing team at The Moxy for my incredible staycation!
