I got antsy this year. After moving to my new apartment in the city, I knew I was ready to refresh my space. The rituals of packing and unpacking all of my worldly possessions, to move only 8 or so blocks, really made me take a look at all I’ve accumulated over my 4 years in New York. The photos, the magazines, and of course the clothes - endless piles of clothes - really add up after all those years.
When I settled into the new place, I felt renewed. Another blank canvas to begin creating, and this time I wanted to do it right. More art, more ‘adult’ furniture, and a calming energy. But where to start? There are endless options when it comes to home decor, and I really spiraled into a web of choices. Don’t get me wrong, I love options, but at a certain point too many choices are a deterrent to my creativity.
I wanted to make my apartment a beautiful, inspiring space. But honestly, I’m still on a budget, and the idea of buying an apartment’s worth of furniture was a bit daunting. Luckily I came across a new service that promised all the gorgeous furniture and decor I wanted for my new space, without the weight of having to own it. That’s where Feather came in.
Feather is a service made with people like me in mind - people who want to easily and affordably transform their space without having to commit to the pieces forever. The idea of subscribing to furniture made me apprehensive at first, but after seeing the gorgeous furniture and home items Feather offered, from brands like West Elm and Casper no less, I knew I needed to try it.
The process was so simple - just pick my pieces, select my subscription terms (a year for me!), and wait for the new pieces to be hand-delivered and assembled days later. Within 5 days I had an entire bedroom complete, and I couldn't be happier with how it all turned out. My favorite part is, after my year subscription, I can decide if I want to switch up my room with all new pieces, or continue on with what I’ve chosen! And for someone like me who is constantly looking for new creative inspirations, this is a huge plus.
The team over at Feather was helpful at every step. From helping me choose my items, to arranging my delivery, it was so simple to create a cohesive, minimal, and cozy bedroom that has brought me so much joy.
Once I had the basics of my room all set, I needed to tackle all of those white walls I was surrounded by, and I found the best art prints over at Minted. I had no idea the huge selection they had of fine art prints, and picking out the perfect piece was so easy.
For my first piece of art, I wanted something calming and neutral; I chose an abstract landscape photograph from an artist based in Texas. I love that Minted sources its prints from artists all over the country, and gives background information on the artist and each individual piece. It really makes the process feel more intimate and personal.
I have so much more to accomplish in this new apartment, but my friends over at Feather and Minted have really helped me start off on the right foot. I can’t wait to see what I can create in my new space!
Take a peek at the Feather furniture I chose below, and let me know what you think of my new bedroom in the comments!
