feeling artsy with calvin klein 205w39nyc
Fashion is often referred to as the intersection of art and commerce. For me at least, clothing as an expressive tool has always been the most understandable and practical form of art, and now more than ever art is having a resurgence in menswear. The most ingenious mix of art, fashion, and a bit of wit, has got to be from Calvin Klein's 205W39NYC line, helmed by the creative mastermind that is Raf Simons. Raf's changes at the label have been far reaching in the world of fashion, bringing Americana and the Calvin Klein name both back into the conversation in a major way.
I recently took a trip to the new Nordstrom Men's store in the city, and was blown away by their shop-in-shop of the new Calvin Klein 205 line. The installation mimics the CK boutique so well - they really translated Raf's vision for the season. While exploring the collection, I couldn't help myself from trying on a few pieces, and I instantly fell in love with this hoodie (via Farfetch) featuring a print of Sanrda Brant by Andy Warhol. It may at first look simple, but the simplicity is what makes it special. The cut, the fit, the authentic Andy Warhol screen printing; everything comes together to make this piece special. I had to have it!
I knew I wanted to style this in a casual American way, keeping as true as possible to Raf's vision of Calvin Klein. I paired the hoodie under an oversized denim jacket (because what is more American than a denim jacket?), and black denim pants, topped off with sleek black Chelsea boots. It turned out exactly as I'd hoped: simple, yet put together; classic, but on-trend.
