Layering, and jackets in particular, are so important to my personal style. I find that layered outfits are much more fun and creative to put together than a simple look. Don't get me wrong, I definitely have those jeans-and-t-shirt days, but that's the beauty of a cool jacket. You can throw it on anything and immediately up the cool factor, and let people know you put in that little extra effort into dressing.
Now that we are officially in the thick of Summer in NYC, wearing jackets is definitely more difficult. I try to layer with short sleeve shirts and t-shirts, but I genuinely miss wearing a real jacket like I can in Fall and Winter. We had a dip in temperature (hitting about 75ΒΊ fahrenheit) a week back, and I knew this was my chance to toss on a jacket for the first time in a long time.
I picked out this awesome metallic slate blue bomber from Asos on one of my many shopping binges on the website, and was so excited to style it as soon as I got it. It has a slightly oversized fit, but the color and fabric keep it sleek and modern. In the light, the color can go from gray to blue, which I love. It makes such a statement for being so simple, exactly the style of jacket I love to wear! For this look, I wanted the jacket to shine, so I paired it with my go-to all black outfit. Popping the jacket on top of a simple black tee and pair of shorts really upped the style on this outfit, especially when taking the time to pair it with a belt and my favorite Gucci loafers. Bomber jackets seem like they are hear to stay for a while, so I'm glad I could add this updated version to my over-stuffed closet.
What kind of jackets are you loving lately? Let me know in the comments!
